General submissions for the 2026 Sea Slug Animation Festival are now closed.
Submitters will receive a status update on the acceptance or rejection of their film by January 20, 2026 via FilmFreeway.
Entry Fee Waivers
Sea Slug seeks to eliminate entry fees as a common form of festival income. Our 2026 entry fees are priced at $5 USD across all deadlines to reduce thoughtless spamming. However, any and all interested filmmakers are welcome to simply contact us to receive a waiver code for your entry fee—guaranteed. Our goal is to receive no money from filmmakers! We recommend reaching out well before the final submission deadline to allow our team adequate time to respond to your request. Entry fees received incidentally generally won't be reimbursed. Please reach out if you have a concern about your entry fee. (Updated September 2, 2025).
Screening Fees
In an effort to value the labor of artists and increase the sustainability of art as a career, Sea Slug will pay all short films accepted to the 2026 Sea Slug Animation Festival program a standard $75 USD screening fee.
