Shunpike is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that provides independent arts groups in Washington State with the services, resources, and opportunities they need to forge their own paths to sustainable success.
Fiscal sponsorship is a contractual relationship between a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a group or individual whose activities fall within the sponsoring organization’s mission. This relationship enables the 501(c)(3) to extend certain benefits of being nonprofit to the sponsored group, without the group having to go through filing for nonprofit status by itself.
Fiscal sponsorship enables mission-aligned groups to share resources, which keeps administrative expenses low and in proportion to the size of each organization. In other words: Shunpike does the back office work, so groups can spend more time (and money) on their artistic mission.
